To whom it may concern:
I am very pleased to be able to support Daniel with this reference. I have worked with Daniel on a few projects previously, but had the opportunity to work with him closely on a complex and large house in Merewether beginning in 2010.
It is rare to find a builder, or anyone else involved in the design and construction industry, to be so effective in solving problems and finding opportunities for building better houses more efficiently. The house in Merewether was particularly complex given the steep site, the partial re use of the existing house, and the large amount of detailing that every part of the house, the pool and fabricated furniture required. The details weren’t part of the original tender set, they were worked out on site in discussion with Daniel and then occasionally drawn as a record. This process allows the opportunities and possibilities to be discussed before hand, and a process that Daniel is highly skilled in being able to work out. It involves an ability to think three dimensionally before the part has been built, and to understand the consequences and cost of a particular decision on the next stages of construction. For this reason many of the details within the house aren’t my own, they are a true collaboration between builder and designer. I’m indebted to Daniel for this, and look forward to the next project where we can do this again.
I have no hesitation in recommending Daniel for any building award he is involved with, he undertakes his work with enthusiasm and insight that makes the building process work much better for designer and owners alike. Please don’t hesitate to contact me further should you wish to discuss this reference further.
